The mission in Tanzania, one of the Congregation’s newest apostolates, was established twelve years ago. Despite its short duration it is beginning to show some achievement. Our members are currently working in two parishes, in Kahangala and Butiama. A joyful sign is our development in formation. Three members have made first vows, two of whom aspire to life as CR lay brothers, and one who has begun formation for priesthood. We look forward to having two candidates begin their Novitiate in the next year.

In a simple Community ceremony held on the recent Feast of St. John, December 27, 2013, Fr. Maciej Braun CR received the position of local Superior after Fr. Andrzej Mądry CR, who had finished three terms (9 years) as leader of the mission. Fr. Maciej presided at a special concelebrated Eucharist for the occasion, at which our five members in formation and three missionaries serving in Tanzania were present. Fr. Daniel Hinc, also serving at the mission, is presently vacationing in Poland. On the same day our missionaries took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate their Polish Christmas customs along with other Polish priests and sisters serving in the dioceses of Mwanza and Musoma. After the homily of the Eucharist, delivered by Fr. Kościelniak, Fr. Maciej made his profession of faith as Superior before Fr. Andrzej Duda CR, serving as a delegate of Fr. General. During the Mass Fr. Mądry was thanked for his contributions for the good of the mission over the last nine years, while the guidance of the Holy Spirit was asked upon the incoming superior. Although the liturgy, celebrated in the Polish language, was obviously not understood by all of the Tanzanian brethren present, we are confident that Fr. Maciej has been validly initiated into his new commitment as superior.
