The Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz is located in the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord. It was established on April 21, 2001, by Archbishop Tadeusz Gocłowski, Ordinary of Gdańsk. The ceremony of its erection coincided with the consecration of the newly built parish church. The image of the Merciful Jesus, placed in the side chapel of the church, was blessed by John Paul II in Gdańsk during his pilgrimage to the Homeland in 1999.
The particular feature of the sanctuary – in addition to the devotion to Divine Mercy – is the “Way of Light” devotion. Outside, around the church, there are sixteen stations recalling the most important events between the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Descent of the Holy Spirit.
