Since 1959, our Congregation has been engaged in missionary work on the South American continent, in Brazil and Bolivia. The direct impulse for opening missionary posts was the call of Pope Leo XIII to send religious with a mission *ad gentes*.

Resurrectionists from the Polish Province arrived in Brazil in March 1959, while those from the USA and Ontario-Kentucky Provinces began their work in Bolivia in September 1959. They became involved in parish and educational apostolates. They built churches and chapels, schools, facilities for pastoral and formation work, as well as for charitable activities. In keeping with the vision of Bogdan Jański, they embraced new challenges in close cooperation with the laity, while also caring for their spiritual formation.

On July 18, 1981, the 27th General Chapter made the decision to establish the South American Region. Its patron is Father Hieronim Kajsiewicz CR, who was the first Resurrectionist to set foot on the South American continent in November 1865 and spent about six months in Brazil.

Currently, 26 Resurrectionists from the South American Region serve primarily in parish apostolates and are involved in evangelization movements. We are present in various dioceses in Brazil, Bolivia, and Bermuda. The initial formation of young religious and candidates to the Congregation takes place in our religious houses in Curitiba and Resende.
