From 26 to 28 November, the 104th Assembly of the Union of Superiors General (USG) is taking place, with Fr. Evandro Miranda Rosa CR also in attendance. The theme of the winter meeting, which brings together approximately 160 participants, is: “Connected Faith: Experiencing Prayer in the Digital Age.”
The opening took place on Wednesday during an audience in the New Synod Hall at the Vatican, where Pope Leo XIV addressed the participants of the Assembly. The Holy Father also took time to answer questions posed by those present. He encouraged the consecrated religious to cultivate prayer and not to neglect fraternal encounters. He invited them to make use of the “extraordinary opportunities” offered by technology, but never at the expense of the human person. The Vicar of Christ asked the consecrated to find the right approach and maintain an appropriate distance in relation to the digital world, which “also poses a challenge for consecrated persons.”
The Pope thanked those present for the difficult and delicate work they carry out, imparted his blessing, and assured them of his prayers for the communities represented by the participating Superiors.
Shortly afterward, the Superiors General proceeded to the Fraterna Domus in Sacrofano, near Rome, to continue the Assembly’s sessions through Friday.
