On Sunday, September 15th, in Butiama, in the beautifully renovated church (thanks to the efforts and diligence of the parish priest, Father Maciej Braun), celebrations were held for the twentieth anniversary of the parish and the renewal of religious vows by our three Tanzanians.
All the Resurrectionists from Tanzania and parishioners from all communities participated in the celebrations. The mass was presided over by the bishop of the Musoma diocese, Michael Msonganzila. In his address to the people, the Bishop encouraged them to remember that the temple is a common home and should be taken care of. The Bishop also pointed out the need to build a living Church, which every Christian is meant to be. After the homily, our brothers John, Michael, and Mosses made their religious vows in the hands of Father Jim Gibson, the general councilor. Traditionally, offerings were brought in a procession, including a goat, coca cola, rice, sugar, soap, tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggs. After the mass, the celebration continued in the parish hall, where everyone received a delicious meal and could listen to the singing performed by the combined choirs of various communities (about 150 people in total).
