On December 8, 2020, Pope Francis announced the beginning of the Year dedicated to St. Joseph, on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the proclamation of St. Joseph as the patron of the Universal Church, made by Bl. Pius IX (December 8, 1870). On this occasion, Pope Francis published the Apostolic Letter "Patris Corde" (With a Father's Heart), stressing that "after Mary, the Mother of God, no saint occupies as much space in papal teaching as St. Joseph, her husband”. The document presents the Pope's "personal reflections" on St. Joseph.
