The Roman House community bids farewell to Brother Piotr Gryboś, who passed away in the Lord on the morning of February 4, 2014. Brother Piotr was born on June 29, 1917 in Biała Niżna (Tarnów Diocese). In 1934, he joined the Congregation of the Resurrection, and on August 15, 1936, he took his religious vows. He worked in Krakow and Poznan, among other places. In 1971, he was assigned to work at the Mentorell Sanctuary near Rome. From 1981, he served for over 32 years at the General House in Rome. Until the end, he participated in the life of the community, being an exceptional figure in it. Hedied on the morning of February 4, 2014, in his 97th year of life, of which he lived 78 years as a Resurrectionist.
Known for his exceptional diligence, he took care of the sacristy and garden, prepared meals, and looked after guests. In his free time, he developed his interests, actively participated in meetings of fellow brothers working in Rome. His passion was poetry. On holidays and celebrations, he read his poems. His authentic and deep religiosity was a model and motivation for many. He lived the spirituality of the Resurrection and passed it on to younger generations. Until the end, full of gratitude to God and his brothers, he repeated during the Eucharist and community meals: Thank you! Thank you very much! Leaving, he left us not only his poems but also valuable personal spiritual notes.
