On the night of July 29, 2013, in a Vienna hospital, our brother Father Jerzy Smoliński, a priest of the Polish Province and rector of St. Joseph's Church on Kahlenberg in Vienna, passed away. He joined the Congregation in 1941. He was ordained a priest on April 2, 1949. In the Congregation, he held various important positions. From 1976 to 1982, he was the Superior of the Polish Province of the Resurrectionists. From September 1986 until the end of his life, he was the rector of St. Joseph's Church on Kahlenberg. In 1993, the Polish Embassy in Vienna awarded him the Order of Merit. In 2003, he became an honorary canon of the Wrocław Chapter. He also received other decorations from Polish and Austrian authorities. He died at the age of 91, in the 73rd year of his calling, and the 65th year of his priesthood.
On August 8, a mass was held at Kahlenberg for the late Father Jerzy. It was presided over by Father Provincial Wiesław Śpiewak. The following day, a funeral mass was held at St. Casimir's Church in Warsaw, during which Bishop Józef Zawitkowski delivered the sermon.
