Archbishop Celestino Migliore, the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, presided over a solemn concelebrated Mass on June 13th, marking the 175th anniversary of the death of the Servant of God Bogdan Jański, at the parish of his baptism dedicated to Our Lady of Consolation of the Afflicted in Winnica: "The truth of Jesus' resurrection dominated his converted life," the hierarch admitted. The ceremony was attended by dozens of representatives of the Congregation of the Resurrection.
In his homily, Archbishop Migliore noted that he was impressed by how the Servant of God Bogdan Jański, who lived only 33 years, experienced the truth of the resurrection. This experience was "very extraordinarily alive in his life and mind."
"The truth of Jesus' resurrection dominated his converted life, continued by his spiritual sons and daughters," emphasized the Vatican representative. "When the crucified Christ left the tomb and returned to his disciples, they were lost and anxious, weak and confused, unable to stand by the Master in times of trial," he recounted.
As he further interpreted, this state quickly passed – Jesus transformed human life, giving it a new nature: the disciples, from being fearful and weak, became courageous witnesses, and St. Paul, from a persecutor, became an apostle by conviction.
"The Easter morning made the hearts of the disciples beat faster, they were joyful, this event was great and beautiful for them. Then came the amazement, because every true mystery affects a person in this way. This moment was joyful but also difficult to understand," the hierarch noted.
In his opinion, it was Mary – the Mother of Consolation, venerated in the mystery of her immaculate heart, who helped the disciples then, reminding them that the risen Jesus is close to every person, shortening the distance between human hearts.
According to Archbishop Migliore, the charism of the Resurrectionists reminds us that God's love for people is "merciful and reliable." He also wished them, on the day their founder was born to heaven 175 years ago, to always be "devoted to the matters of God," and then they will authentically experience the resurrection of themselves and the people to whom they are sent.
The anniversary ceremony was attended by brothers and sisters from the Congregation of the Resurrection, including the current Provincial of the Polish Province of the Resurrectionists, Fr. Krzysztof Swół CR, and the former Provincial Fr. Wiesław Śpiewak CR (appointed by Pope Francis as Bishop of the Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda on June 13th).
It was also attended by parishioners from Winnica and students from the Primary School, Bogdan Jański Gymnasium, and scouts from ZHR – with their banners.
At the end, "Te Deum" was sung together.
