On Sunday, May 10th, two important events took place in the Złocieniec parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta arrived at the church and took permanent residence there - in image and relics. The Złocieniec Community of External Brothers also expanded, now counting 16 members.
During the Holy Mass at 11:00 AM, presided over by the General Superior of the Resurrectionists, Father Bernard Hylla, the image was blessed and the relics of Blessed Mother Teresa were handed over by the Missionaries of Charity sisters. The parish priest, Fr. Wiesław Hnatejko, explaining the motives for inviting the "Angel of Mercy" from Calcutta to the church altars, said: "We live in times when we need witnesses, clear witnesses of our faith. Not only those who will preach faith with words, but who will show that love for man is possible, that it is not just beautiful words." Mother Teresa is precisely the one who teaches active love in a very concrete way. She often repeated: "I have no time either to grow old or to die. I only have time to serve God and to love this God in another person."
During the Parish Sum, the faithful experienced the ceremony of making promises by candidates for External Brothers - Robert Kowalik, Tomasz Pietkiewicz, Jacek Stefan, and Roman Zielnica. The promises were received by the General Superior of the Resurrectionists. Brother Jacek Stefan, in an interview for Gość Niedzielny, said emotionally: "I don't know how to describe it... it's something beautiful! In this way, God's will is realized in my life. I am happy with this step because until now I was a bit envious of my colleagues who are brothers... I wanted to be one of them because I believed it brought them closer to God; even externally - I sat in the pew, they were already closer to the altar. Now I also want to get closer to God because it helps me in everyday life."
External brothers are connected with our religious community by a spiritual bond of unity and brotherly love, a common idea of working on the resurrection of oneself and society. They gather for monthly formation meetings, holy masses, and adorations. Together with the Resurrectionist priests, they experience days of reflection and retreats. External brothers are distinguished by special ties and wear the victorious resurrection flag pinned to their clothing.
