The novitiate house of the South American Region is located in Resende, in the region of Rio de Janeiro. It is situated in the immediate vicinity of the Church of the Risen Christ, one of the four churches of the parish of St. Cecilia, run by the Resurrectionists.
The novice masters of Adilson Barros and Guilherme da Silva Ferreira are Father Jan Solak CR. Father Alexander Maluza CR, the vicar of St. Cecilia's parish, also resides in the novitiate house.
The novitiate is a period of preparation for religious life, which begins at the moment of taking religious vows: poverty, chastity, and obedience. It is a time of prayer and work, personal formation, and deepening knowledge about the Congregation and its Constitutions, about the charism and mission of the religious community. Recognizing the great evangelization needs, we pray daily for vocations to the priesthood, religious life, and missions!
The rhythm of life in the Novitiate is determined by prayer, formation meetings, and regular household duties. We also engage in the life of the parish community and participate in various events. This year, we assisted in baking and selling small loaves of bread, thus helping to raise material funds for the organization of World Youth Day, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro. We were supported in this by brothers Leandro CR and Nucinaldo CR. You can see our work in bread baking and other photos from novitiate life in the photo gallery.
