The new academic year is the second year of the Resurrectionists Seminary in Tanzania. Our two new seminarians, Phillip Justinian and Leonidace Bilikwija, began classes on September 23 by participating in an orientation week organized for all new students at the Salvatorian Jordan University. Regular classes for all students started on September 30. We now have a total of four seminarians. In addition to the two mentioned above, John Zephrene and Denis Silivanus are also continuing their studies. Three of them are in their second year of philosophy, while the fourth, Leonidace, has started his first year. Regarding religious formation, John is a professed member who renewed his vows on September 15 this year. Denis has started his second year of postulancy, and Phillip and Leonidace have started their first year of postulancy. The Rector of the Seminary, Fr. Andrzej Duda, is teaching two subjects this semester: Sacraments and New Evangelization. We are still residing in the Vincentian Missionaries' seminary. Currently, the combined community of the two Congregations consists of 10 clerics and 3 priests.
Our seminary community was visited by Fr. Jim Gibson, the general secretary. We were very pleased, as he was the second Resurrectionist to visit us in the short history of our seminary in Morogoro. The first was Fr. Phil Reilly at the beginning of this year. Fr. Jim conducted a retreat for us and received religious vows. He also had the opportunity to meet his older brother, Fr. John Gibson, a Carmelite, who is an educator of local Carmelite clerics and also a lecturer at the Salvatorians.
