Every beatification or canonization process begins with the positio,
followed by the dissemination of information and devotion within the Church. Regarding the positio for the process of Bogdan Jański, the first two of its three parts have been completed:

1. A concise and detailed description of all personal documents;
2. A biography up to the year 1837;
3. Confirmation of the heroicity of virtues. This last point was prepared 20 years ago by Fr. Jerzy Mrówczyński, CR, and does not reflect the latest changes in the guidelines. The new relator of the process, Fr. Szczepan Praśkiewicz, is well acquainted with the life and works of Jański and is capable of assisting in the writing of the required part of the positio. The submitted documents have been accepted by him. 

As for the history of the Founder’s cause, it was inaugurated on May 19, 2005, in the Diocese of Płock. The diocesan phase concluded on April 19, 2008, and the acts were submitted to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints (now: the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints) in the Vatican.

In the cause of the Venerable Servant of God, Fr. Paweł Smolikowski CR, the heroic virtues of his life have been formally recognized. The decree affirming this was signed by Pope Francis on December 19, 2017.

The vice-postulator conducts lectures and retreats to help strengthen the fama sanctitatis of Fr. Paweł. In various places — including at his grave in Kraków, in the church located at 10 Łobzowska Street — the faithful offer prayers and novenas through his intercession. At present, the vice-postulator is gathering the necessary testimonies and promoting his veneration.
