The primary source for learning about the personal and spiritual life of the Servant of God Bogdan Jański, as well as his social and religious involvement, is his authorial journal, which survived almost miraculously. These are mainly personal notes, gathered under the working title Diary 1830–1839, which also includes texts on various other matters (from the Introduction).

This book is a collection of testimonies and opinions from those who witnessed the life and activity of Bogdan Jański. From these emerges the spiritual profile of the Founder of the Resurrectionists – a man of exceptional character, great kindness toward others, and strictness toward himself.

This study aims to demonstrate that the Servant of God Bogdan Jański – although he neither wrote a Rule, nor formulated a biblical vision, nor created structures, nor even proposed a name – appears to us not only as "the first open penitent and apostle of Polish emigration in France", but also as the real and sole Founder of the Resurrectionist Congregation, endowed by the Holy Spirit with the founding charism, of which he was fully aware.
