Vocation discernment is a process that helps recognize the action of the Holy Spirit in a person, for example, to what the Holy Spirit is calling that person and how that calling should be realized. This process is based on an increasing awareness of how the Holy Spirit is working in a person's life at a given moment. The process of belonging invites a person to answer the following questions: What is God's will regarding my life? To what is God calling me? How can I understand that God is calling me to religious life? To answer these and similar questions, time, prayer, and discernment are needed. A person who sincerely seeks to recognize God's calling will, as they progress in their spiritual journey, receive “signs”: openness of heart to respond to God's call... a feeling of satisfaction, joy, happiness when considering the possibility of undertaking the path of religious life... motivation to serve others... a desire for deeper spirituality... love for God and for God's people... hunger for God... a desire to live in community.
