Extended General Council in Rome

EGC 2014

On May 5-14, 2014, the Extended General Council  --the General Curia together with provincial superiors—had their official meeting in Rome at the Generalate House. Its sessions were directed, in accordance with our Constitutions, to support our Superior General in his concern for the unity and development of the international Community. Although the EGC is essentially consultative, it continued to make decisions granted to this body, such as determining the financial support from the Provinces to the General Curia and setting up the Resurrectionist Renewal Program.

This year, as a formative aspect of the EGC, we were joined by the Extended General Council of the Sisters of the Resurrection to receive presentations from Combonian Missionary Fr. David Glenday (General Secretary of the Union of Superiors General) and Fr. Jos Janssens SJ (professor emeritus at the Gregorian University), concerning our roles in authority and leadership.

As a body the EGC had the opportunity to concelebrate the Eucharist at the tomb of St. John XXIII in St. Peter’s Basilica and we received a tour of the Vatican Gardens from the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception.
