On Sunday, September 18, 2016, two Resurrectionists of our Polish Province were raised to the Order of Deacon in the Church. Marcin Klimaszewski, C.R., and Daniel Szkubera, C.R., (left and right of Bishop in photo) were ordained by Bishop Wiesław (Wesley) Spiewak, C.R., Ordinary of the Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda and the first bishop ordained from the Polish Province of Resurrectionists. The ordination was the first opportunity of Bishop Wesley to ordain a Resurrectionist confrere, and both Marcin and Daniel had first professed their religious vows under Fr. Wes as Provincial Superior.
More than thirty Resurrectionists concelebrated in the ordination liturgy, including Provincial Superior Fr. Krzysztof Swół, seminary Rector Fr. Damian Stachowiak and Secretary General Fr. James Gibson, who represented Fr. General in offering the prayerful support of the Congregation. The families of the new deacons, including Fr. Krzysztof Szkubera, C.R., Daniel's brother, also participated in the Mass along with friends from Poland and Italy. In his homily Bishop Spiewak reflected with the men to be ordained on their response "I am so resolved" -- to serve as deacons with humility and love, to proclaim the faith, to deepen their spirit of prayer and to shape their lives according to the example of Christ.
